It might be freezing cold here in Brisbane, but on the other side of the globe things are getting hot! Some places in Europe are well into the 40°Cs. So we thought maybe it was a good time to share a few tips for keeping cool for our friends across the ditch.
1. Stay Hydrated
All that heat in your body has got to go someone, that’s where sweat comes in. While this might be one of humanity greatest evolutionary traits, allowing us to persevere in the hottest places, it can very quickly lead to dehydration. Dehydration can have serious short and long term effects, and can even be fatal. The amount of water we all need to consume varies from person to person, so it’s important to take note if you have a dry mouth, dizziness or a headache.
Keep those fluids up!
2. Close Blind and Windows
While it might seem counterintuitive, shutting up the house is a great hack to keep the heat out. Close up all your windows and blinds/curtains before the sun comes out and you will be very surprised how much the house insulates. In QLD this can be a bit tricky with our poorly insulation homes, but over in Europe dwellings are much better at maintaining a consistent temperature.
3. Have a Cuppa
Another one that at a glance sounds odd, drink a hot drink! Drinking a hot drink, such as a cup of English (or Australian!) Breakfast, can drop your body temperature overall. The initial spike of temperature causes your body to start cooling itself. This method is commonly practiced by Eastern cultures, such as in India. And we all know how great at cricket they are. Crush the rivalry and follow their lead!
4. Crank the Air Con
Of course our final tip, a shameless plug, turn up that AC. This will provide the most noticeable benefit to your house. To save money, turn it on in one room and close it up, keep that cool inside.
Make sure your system is running at it’s best by keeping it clean with AirCon-Men.
